Finally

Finally a tune that is actually jazz (manouche) on the jazz section and also recorded with real instruments.

There are only a few NG artists who do that... (all added to my fav's list)

Beside a good performance stand a good recording. Clear sound on guitars and very transparent drums. The most I like the snare, you can hear all the detail (played with brushes?).
Congratulations

joeymofo responds:

Thank you! Real instruments and real audio recording is what i do and love. (and playing guitar of course hah!)

The drums were played with brushes indeed. What does 'transparent' drums mean? good or bad thing? Thanks!

bad

Beside the bad recording/editing and pitching the voice there are samples from Hip-Hop E-Jay which are under a different license than what we have here on Newgrounds.
Also, all the track is lacking a theme or a thematic melody that "glue" together the elements.

As an advice I can say, try to get a better microphone and pop-filter, this way the quality of the voice will get better.
When you make an advertisement, try to give to the listener something to remember about it, try to personalize your add.

Also, stay away from copyrighted loops and samples or you might get into legal troubles.

buynetstuff responds:

Then why does it say royalty free loops on the box?
I guess I dont know whay royalty free means.

now you give me ideas

Distorted trumpet... hmmm... I might try it live.
Should I pay you copyright for the idea ?
:)))

Sonofkirk responds:

Lol, the distortion was not intended. I put the sample on a guitar track originally reserved to a guitar melody with a light distortion ... I liked how it sounded so I kept it :). Thanks a lot for the review.

Not bad for a first

There are a lot of things to improve but for a first submission is not as bad as it could be ;)
There are some interesting tutorials on Audio Forum and a whole section entitled "Ask your Fruity Loops Questions Here" where you can get some advicess and tips for audio production with FL.

Cheers.

Edwardthehollow responds:

I've been looking around the forums but the only thing that seemed like it would have Tutorials for FL was a four year old post with outdated links. >.>

love the guitar

Your mic did a good job on guitar.
You did a good job with composing, recording, playing and all the rest.
Congrats!

curriemaster responds:

Yo Mihaiiiiii thanks for the review the new microphone did work out pretty well on this song. There are some minor issues I have but I dont think I can be bothered to record it again from scratch! Cheers for the review dude :D

Love,
The Pink Penicorn

good tack

In fact it's so good that I was about to ban it for being stolen...
No, it's not a joke.
After all the issues were cleared out we're happy to see that good bands actually post their best songs on NG.

Congrats.
5/5 10/10

Sicdrummer responds:

LOL thanks man that means alot and i'm glad we got everything cleared up Brokensaint is gonna keep posting our shit on here and start letting people know about newgrounds

Thanks again

MaestroRage and DarKsidE555 is a WIN

Yep, one of the Best combinations ever existed on NG.
So, this include the best features of both, impressive big orchestral from Maestro and wicked guitar work from DS, a must have in your playlist.

DarKsidE555 responds:

Ah come on, stop it with the praise already. I'm a real bitch at playing guitar. :/ Not as good as I wanted to be. Glad that you like it though.

Thanks for checking ma man! :)

awful

awful but funny (in a way)
clipping in some places (that should be fixed) try to lower the volume or put a compressor on it

procow responds:

It kind of clips because the left and right channels didn't record from the gameboy to the computer... Because of the fact that it was indeed made with a gameboy I cannot put a compressor on it or it would defeat the purpose of using a gameboy.

noisy

the idea is not bad, but to me seems kind of messy (no structure, no theme)
mixing is AWFUL!!!
first, noise on the guitar (guess no grounding),
second, drums sound like you recorded from a far cd player (instead on making the mix in the computer)
third, no panning AT ALL, sounds like a mono mixing to me

didn't vote because I don't want to give a bad vote (I hate 0-voters myself, so ...)
hope you'll improve

BloodFest responds:

Weill, it's an improvisation dude, give me a break haha.
Im not a jazz guitarrist, I play metal most of the time, but thanks alot for your feedback.

dark

very dark feeling, the filtered percussion (or what is there) have a creeping effect, the bells give a solemn feel.
btw, Shadowman 1 is one of my favorite games ;) ... Michael LeRoi, fighting evil with dark forces ... in the original comics he was a jazz musician turned into Shadowman by a voodoo priestess ...
your track would do a very good job in the game (or a movie ... I can imagine Deadside on this)

popraz responds:

Thank you for the awesome review ! I actually had the game in mind when i made this song. Loved it !

Don't be bitter, be better. (A.Madubuko) Flesh will rot but songs remain in ages. (Citrina)
