Lazy or not, for now this is my personal favorite in the remix contest. Clean and clear mix.
I look forward to hear more from you :)

JPRixdorfer responds:

Thank you very much, my friend! I guess I'll have to do better, as this contest goes til october. If it were over now, I'd have 3rd place for sure! :D

Not bad

This is a track with a good groove and have good energy but there are some things I would do different:
First thing that jumps at me (as a guitar player) is the "fake" guitar. You can ask a real guitarist to help or you can make a classic rock trick, making two guitars and pan hard left and right. Make those with different instruments or settings other way it will sound mono.
At 01:22 there is a bit of harmony clashing between choir and guitar line. I don't know if is intended that way or got like this by mistake.

Overall good track, worth a listen but can be improved.

Shiverwar responds:

Well, all I have are soundfonts, so I've really got a disadvantage over you and everyone else, hehe. Anyways, yeah, I appreciate your review. However, I did what I could with what I had.

Nice

I'm glad to see that you experiment with some other drums than FL default "plastic" ones.
As idea/ melody/ composition, this is a very nice one. As mix, could be improved (in my opinion).
There is no sense of space, even with panning, the tambourine is "too close" and the fact that is a single sample instrument (no round-robin, no dynamic layering ) makes it sound very unnatural.
The flute/whistle instrument could have more "air" in the mix, some samples of rough attacks, some "speech flute" (when the flute player attacks sounds with some syllables) and some more hi frequencies in the EQ would help maybe.

As usual I say, if you send me the midi or waves separately , I could try a mix on it :)

Troisnyx responds:

I could, if I'd known I had to save in WAV or MIDI before that - every single early file of mine was in MP3! D: And yes, I didn't pan the thing very much...

By the way... What of the speech flute thing? I could try doing something of the sort (i.e. remake this), and perhaps save the waves separately so that I might pass them to you for mixing, but what's the best way to go about it?

Thanks for the review, by the way.

I do love taiko drums. <3

Brilliant

I loved this track from the first listen (on Audio Draft). I find generally speaking your melodies absolutely brilliant.
The orchestration of this one reminds me of Joe Hisaishi. I hope you'll remake the project.

Troisnyx responds:

I believe I should! The friend who's been working Histoires Duchemin with me asked if I could take out the octaves in the choirs, and I wanted to do just that - but I had to leave my room, and whilst I was away, my PC tuned up all by itself and restarted. Demo FL = no save file = T_T. I'll need a gust of inspiration before I rework this, fo sho'. x

10/10

10/10
Why ? Because the theme is FANTASTIC !
I don't care if the mix have issues if the melody is flowing so well that instantly transport me to a parallel reality.

Really good.

BrokenDeck responds:

Thanks Mihai! Good to hear from you.

Definitely

The customization of this one is reaching close to infinite.
I would give you 100* as rating.

You should also specify how many usages you sell for 10$. If I loop this rhythm, let's say 10 times, would I have to pay separately for all ?

Darkmaster603 responds:

Of course, this ain't a charity. Maybe one day UNICEF will get into the audio game but until then, this is how it's gonna be.

Brilliant

For quite a while Bosa got us used to brilliant compositions, awesome melodic lines and unmatched mixing skills.
Don't ever stop doing that man, I can stay for hours listening to your music :)

Bosa responds:

I could say the same about you! Thank you for the review, and keep on making music!

Nice use of trumpet

Good idea to make bass in unison with trumpet in some places (very much like Marcus Miller, google on him).
Very "cat like" track actually. the pizzicato is really effective here, really add the "cat steps".
What I would change is the rhythm. To my taste, the rhythm it's coming too rough, there is no sense of building tension. You could start with a swinging ride cymbal, hi-hats on up-beat, then add small accents on kick, then add snare, then build all this rhythm.

Overall, good work. Congrats :)

Decibel responds:

Oh finally, a nice review :P
I'll see what I can do with the rythm.
Thanks! :)

Clever Dissonances

I like the way you constructed the tension by very clever usage of dissonances.
Also mixing is very nice, all small details are clear and distinct in the mix.
Congrats.

Calamaistr responds:

Im very glad the mix worked out, i worked on this track twice, wanted to get things right.

Oh and some fun extra info: The final piano piece that plays, is actually a piece i composed on piano a few years ago, i can and still play it pretty often so it wasnt hard to recreate. ;)

I feel a little proud with so many 10s, especially from you sorohanro seeing as you're a very able musician. :) Thanks!.

Amazingly descriptive

You have instant images in front of your eyes.
Amazingly nice track. Very nice touch of that glockenspiel melody.

It's an honor to be faved by one of the very best musicians on Newgrounds!
I have an addiction to the glockenspiel.
Thanks sorohanro.
