As some NG users already know, my account was hacked. I lost the moderator aura and some kid posted some crappy photos and links.
The hacked didn't stop here, he hacked my e-mails (yahoo and g-mail). I lost that way more than 100 contacts, theater directors, opera festivals organizers, studios, record labels...etc.
What sadden me the most is that I lost that way the e-mails I got from Silvia, my ex wife that passed away in 2005.

What do that means for Newgrounds users ?
1 - If you're submitting music for the first time, you'll have to wait even more than the usual. Now there are even less mods to deal with a list that goes sometimes over 200 users.
2 - That also means I'm less open to be nice to NGers, no more Free Trumpet Loops, no more Free Samples, no more helpful sharing of VST Effects, Drums no more help with mixing, recording or advices on forum. I'm banned from the forum anyway.

What do that mean for me?
1 - Losing money, jobs and opportunities to get myself in festivals or make music for theaters.
2 - Losing a part of my life that I can't get back. All the mails, love poems and communications with Silvia, when we were in different towns is lost.
3 - Losing copyrighted material that I have to receive from studios, 3 months of work.

What do that means for the one who did it?
Well... probably just stupid fun... but I promise that I'll get the issue to police and court process. I'll put all of my resources into that.

Techno, he never said he will stop submitting his own audio, he just said he won't help people who is asking for it, because they could well be hackers. He is playing on the same side for awhile, I fucking would be if I lost that many important pieces of work, emails and other things.

But, you can't just stop and let chris beer(self-proclaimed mega epic spammer*his own words*) get the best of you.
Also, it is simple to be unbanned on the BBS. Obviously you aren't banned for doing something stupid etc, so the admins wouldn't have a problem unbanning you.
You were banned because they didn't want Chris to post any dumb shit on the BBS with your account or he already did and they stopped him from doing it more.
He uses a Proxy, has tons of accounts, and he is a Kiwi.

I know there is nothing I can do, I know that there is no consiquence of action that I can help you with even remotely.
What I can say is that we can't change the past; we can only look into the future, because to become leanient on the past is a mode of existence with irrefutable consiquences. Even if what has happened has damaged your lifestyle irreversably, it is still key that you try and seperate yourself from the implications which may follow.
I can't understand what your going through, but I can only infer the worst based on my own expeirences.
What I do understand is that sometimes people are overcome with difficulty, be it financial or emotional; trauma. This is ventilated in a series of ways, sometimes physically, rather then mentally. The greatest artists to my thoughts have managed to significantly alter ones way of thinking, finding ways to induce emotions, fear, hope, love in the way that they express it. It is up to that person how they address their loss, ideally to me in a mode of forgiveness.
What has happened isn't your fault. You may find that such a loss has taken from you what can never be replaced. In any other circumstance you may find comfort in whatever form, as a means of control over the discomfort, but the thing to remember is that you have no control over what has happened, and I wouldn't suggest that you dwell on it for too long. Otherwise people tend to fall into a mode of total nostalgia, rather than acceptance.
Not to reflect on this experience as a warning, to be hesitant, but to see it as an experience of learning, after all we can't turn back the tide.
I've never been married, but from my experience of relationships, non of which being my own. I can only suggest that time heals everything.
I'm not sure what to else to say really, I probably would if I knew you personally, but the least I can say is; One random act of kindness at a time makes the world a better place, and if you can't think of anything nice to say.

Surely there are protective measures against this kind of crime. Look for data recovery tools, if the messages were directly saved onto your computer, then you might be able to recover at least a small partition of what's important.

I might not use that tool, I might stick to "old skool recovering techniques", phone calls, business cards, writing down (on paper)...etc.

Ok you can recover these files depending on a few things.
If it is from your local computer say outlook use this tool - free.

If you are using a web based mail say yahoo. than that email is stored on their server and was deleted from there (though you still did access it on your computer so you can "attempt" recover it with the following tool)

The more you use that hard drive the worst your chances of recovering said file are.
I hope this helps - if the file was accessed on a different computer and it was a web based email like yahoo (say you opened it at work and than deleted, trying to get it back at home) than you can not get it back by these means. Good luck I really hope it helps.

I can't believe someone would do that, I hope your effort pays off and someone finds a way to help you.
The only think I can think of is going on Silvia's e-mail and saving/printing those e-mails. If you use Hotmail I'm pretty sure it saves outgoing messages, type in your e-mail and it should pop up with a bunch of outgoing and incoming e-mails.
I hope you can get some of what's important to you back, what happened is just cruel.

But seriously quit being a fucking asshole. Ok, you were hacked and lost your modship, it doesn't mean you have to be a dick and say "OH HEY I WAS HACKED SO FUCK YOU NEWGROUNDS I WON'T SUBMIT ANYTHING BLAH BLAH BLAH."
Now on the other hand it sucks you lost your important emails and stuff, but there are ways of contacting the e-mail service you use to get your account back.
Another thing is, don't act like just because you are not a mod any more that people won't be approved in the audio portal. There are tons of active mods modding the portal just fine.

I also was waiting for answers from Romanian embassy, multitracks for Eurovision contest, tracks to mix for the opera festival...
And because I was hacked I'm also banned from forum, so even if I would like to help, now I can't.
All people who were getting help from me should thank to that user.
Also, I wasn't the most active mod but the attacks are more often that you think and lot of mods had to suffer from that. The ones who will suffer will be the users.
