Great music but as usual I complain about mixing :))

I would have less thickness on the synth, with some ping-pong delay to enlarge the stereo field. Guitar sounds a little fake and thin. I would make it HUGE by tracking it twice and pan it extremely left and right with different amp/cabinet and eq.
To glue up the whole mix I would put a reverb on send, something medium-small, like a room or "club" and send a little of guitar, synth and even some of the percussion.
The percussion would sound epic if you would use a big reverb (concert hall, arena, stadium sort of type). Same would go great on the piano sound.

Troisnyx responds:

Noted. Thanks a lot for the input! I've got the EQ on, so I can reboot this file and tweak with the mixer.

As for putting the reverb, I'll need to PM you about that -- I'm not sure where that goes, TBH! ^^;

Nice

I was listening some of your tracks and I'm impressed with your sensibility. You have a very good sense of melody and you master quite well the technical aspect of guitar playing.
Nice ideas, good orchestration and very tasteful choice of guitar tones.

I would suggest just to improve the mixing skills and pay more attentions to gain when you record. There are several places where your track is clipping. Slamming a very fast compressor/ limiter as the last effect on your master bus might be a quick fix for this.

KD18 responds:

Thanks for the advice; it's greatly appreciated. I'm actually self-taught in the mixing department and am always trying to learn as much as possible. In terms of a comrpessor/limiter, I actually use my pre-amp's limiter before sending the signal into my computer. Would you suggest adding a digital one in the mix too?

Better

You just get better and better :)
I'm glad to see/ hear that your mixing skills get better. Your composition was always good.
There is a bit a machine feel on the ostinato bass groove, but I think it can be interpreted as a VGM style thing...

Troisnyx responds:

Thank you! I'm glad that mixing bit is getting somewhere. ^_^ Anything else I could tweak? x

Nice

Nice track.

The only thing that bother me, from the mixing point of view, is the the piano doesn't sound "from the same room". I would put a bit more reverb on the piano, but that's just my opinion.
Maybe if it's used in a movie is good like this, describing two different places...

Sheodon responds:

Thank you.

Yes, I can understand that problem and I could hear it from a lots of other comments. To be honest, it can be described as 2 different situations (since it's a meditative-like story-telling soundtrack), but it's also because when I made this I lacked some useable instruments for my software. However, I've improved it and now I have more realistic sounding instruments. :)

Fair

A simple but quite well done. Good melody and harmony, rhythm fits also the feel of the melody.
Maybe not pipers but a group of sailors playing accordions :)
Loops well.

Filters Will Rule The World!

Awesome job man, really really awesome.
Love the filters and the minimalist feel of the guitar.

Decibel responds:

Thanks :)

Very big

Somehow the sound is very big and orchestral, almost epic I would say (is there such thing as Epic House?).
Nice mix, nice synth theme at 02:16 and 02:36.

10/10 5/5

TheBellmaker responds:

Haha glad you like it. I used some orchestral strings in the background as well, I like how it turned out. Thanks for listening!

Epic house, you say....?

A Darth Vader Mix?

So noisy and rough, it must have been done by influence of the dark side :)))

Quarl responds:

naw man. I just tried really hard to imagine what sex with you would be like and made a song from the inspiration.

Nice

I like how you cut and rearranged the trumplets :)
Very polyphonic composition, somehow more to the classical concept, but with a very strong jazzy feel.

Morphone responds:

I actually don't know jazz so that's good to hear that it actually is geared towards jazz, even if it isn't truly representative of it. Thanks.

by now

Lazy or not, for now this is my personal favorite in the remix contest. Clean and clear mix.
I look forward to hear more from you :)

JPRixdorfer responds:

Thank you very much, my friend! I guess I'll have to do better, as this contest goes til october. If it were over now, I'd have 3rd place for sure! :D

Don't be bitter, be better. (A.Madubuko) Flesh will rot but songs remain in ages. (Citrina)
