Awesome fusion, awesome soloing, unexpected harmony and rhythm changes. The xylophone it gives a slightly Zappa feel.
Great work, a definitive "MUST LISTEN".

Good mixing, good choice of sounds but it's a bit too repetitive for my tastes.
You can transpose the melody somewhere in the middle and then get back to the original, or change the solo instrument, or make a filter sweep.
Here, 3 ideas already :)

Jimpon responds:

Thanks a load man. If i can get my file for this song to work with sequel 3 I can make some changes to it. I got a lot more songs to upload too :p

Oh man... where even to start...
This is the time when a remake is way better than the original.
The very military like beginning, with dignity, then you have the playful piccolo soloing on top, like in marching bands. Very nice contrast.
Later on, it changes to a more "serious" music, bringing some polytonal feel and a orchestration reminding (to me) of Ravel.
Last part goes with ostinato on strings and theme on brass, like in modern Hollywood film music.
Diversity, good orchestration, good mixing, all perfect :)

Thanks for reorchestration, sounds fantastic.

BenTibbetts responds:

Thank you for the inspiration. :) Please continue writing.

Nice harmony, good choice of instruments, good mixing.
I would like to hear first melody with a music box, but that is just my personal preference.

OpenLight responds:

Thank you for the review! And yeah, I would like to hear that melody with a music box as well. Honestly, if I had a music box synth I might have used it for that but at the same time I like the synth I used. It would've sounded good either way but the music box may have at least sounded pleasantly different haha.

Nice track, I like the staccato rhythm pattern on strings. Nice melody on trombone also :)
5/5
Cheers.

Somehow abstract, but I guess it's intended. In some places is a bit empty, just "wobbles" and no instrument to keep a harmony (a pad? something).
Pretty good mixing.

Listening this on loop for quite a while. From the start of that low kick to the scrambled/ mashed vocals, filters... everything is just... perfect... yet I crave to make a jazzyfied version of it.

Qelaion responds:

>:D Thank yew. Like I said before on the Soundcloud version, if you need anything like MIDI files and the sort for reference, feel free to contact me, I'll send them along your way!

Nice track, good usage of the legato. Very good orchestration that include classical and traditional instruments.

As a concept I think is good. From the ostinato rhythm to the solid string section it breaths a game feel. It has enough variation not to get boring but it doesn't catch too much attention if you have it in a game.
The only thing that stands out in a bad way is the violin solo, a good solo played with a less realistic sound.
My advice is that if you put a solo on top of virtual instruments, then it should sound really good and realistic.

Good track, perfect for a game project.

UltimaTricksta responds:

Thanks for your feedback, Mihai! I've been working on getting a nice violin sound and the only samples I have are those from Garritan Personal Orchestra (used in this piece) and the ones from Edirol Orchestra. For the first time, I tried changing the velocity of some notes to give it some sense of a human feel. But perhaps, I may need to do something more sonically to get the sound right. Again, thank you for your feedback!

Great music as usual.

Mixing... ouch... Here are some suggestions:
Imagine yourself in a concert hall where "London Symphony Orchestra" is playing your music (that would be great).
- Where would stand the strings ? Violin 1 (left) - Violin 2 (mid-left, more in the back) - Viola (mid right) - Cello (right) - Double Bass (sometimes in the right, sometimes in the back)
- Where would be the piano ? usually in the front of the orchestra if is soloist or in the right, back, behind violin 1
- How about percussion ? that is usually behind all instruments (so, need more reverb to give impression of space).

Troisnyx responds:

Thanks a lot for the input. :D Really. I think that's given me an idea of how the mixing should go. Again, I'll ask for tips in the PMs.

Don't be bitter, be better. (A.Madubuko) Flesh will rot but songs remain in ages. (Citrina)
