Thumbs up. From guitar performance, concept, crazy drums to mixing and mastering, everything is top quality.

TSRBand responds:

Thanks for the review :) glad you liked it!

Awesome!

Metaljonus responds:

Thanks Sorohanro! :D

Nice composition, nice playing and improvising.

Biggyzoom responds:

Cheers ears.

Not bad, but can be better.
If you put it in jazz category, you might want to add a 7th or a 9th to those chords, because like this is a bit... not jazzy
The soloing could use some more modes, try the bebop scale in combination with what you played.
Cheers and keep it up, I really appreciate some real instruments on NG.

Not bad. I would like to hear the actual performance, not the sped up version. Also, instead of so many repeats could have been just one and submitted as a loop.

AinigmA responds:

Hi sorohanro!
Thanks for your response, i really appreciate it!
You are totally right: I simply forgot about the loop option. I might replace this file with an actual, 100% speed version (no speeding up), since there's a large StarWars Hype going on :P
Cheers and may the force be with you!

Nice track, relaxing, jazzy without being too abstract. Would benefit from some real instruments soloing on top, but that's not easy to get. The flute solo could use a bit of reverb to blend in with the rest of the track.

Somehow familiar... is that from "The Return of the Doctor What from X-Men"?

A general "meh"... sorry.
The general sound and mixing is ok-ish, a bit muddy, a bit small, but not bad. I can hear that the libraries used are not top quality, but you got an almost decent sound out of them.
When you work with libraries you have to tailor the music according to the library specifics. If you lack round robins, don't write fast repeating notes. If you lack articulations, stick with long chords instead of fast passages. The fast passages on strings sounds bad.
There is a bit of disbalance between percussion and the rest of the instruments, that cymbal roll is way too loud and too "in your face". Usually the percussion section is way back of the orchestra, so less volume and a bit more reverb.

As composition, is a bit messy. I don't get any feel of form, thematic elements or general tonal center. There are some bad clashes which doesn't seem intended ( 0:21, 0:28, 0:50, 1:01 just to point what sticks out the most). It might be the quality of the library, but I don't hear too much woodwinds there, you used the flute, but no really oboe, clarinet, bassoon.
3/5*.
Get the free Sonatina Orchestra, get the free PapelMedia soundfont (better choir) and the SoniMusicae free libraries for piano and church organ.

More like comedy cinematic than jazz, but it has a "sneaky" feel. To improve it I would suggest using real instruments or better libraries.
Cheers!

You know that Newgrounds Audio Portal is for people to put their own creations, not a file share website, right?
